Mystery #12 - Silky Anteater

Mammal. Arboreal. Nocturnal. And this guy isn't eating plants, either.

Mystery #10 - a Red Kangaroo

Mystery 10
Six feet tall. Nearly 300 degrees of vision, compared to 180 for humans. Largest of its species. Able to move up to 44mph (70kph). Yet it would probably topple over if it tried to back up. Know what it is?

Mystery #8 - Siberian Tiger

Mystery #8

No clues this time - let's see how close you can get without them!

Mystery #7 - Tuatara

Mystery #7

This amniote come from only one country, and it is related to lizards and snakes, though it mostly resembles a lizard. It can get up to 80cm (34") long and grows for the first 35 years of its life, which averages about 60 years, but they can live past 100. What you can't see in this view is that they have a double row of upper teeth that come down on either side of the lower teeth when thei jaws close. I loved drawing this skull! It was like a puzzle, especially with that hole, on the top, that looks suspiciously like... an eye socket...?

Mystery #6

Mystery #6
So, these guys are small: just 15 kg (33 lb) on average, only 43 cm (17") at the shoulder. They are little enough to be preyed upon by eagles and snakes, as well as larger carnivores. They can be found in forest and dense bush, mostly in the southeastern portion of Africa, and are known to have a loud, throaty cry why they spot danger, before diving away into the brush.

Solution: it's a Red Duiker

Mystery #5

Mystery #5

This is one of a family of nocturnal, herbivorous mammals. Adults range from 14 to 17 inches in length and weigh roughly 2 to 4 pounds. They are tree-dwellers but they lack opposable thumbs, so they're fairly clumsy climbers. There are only two species within this family, whose two-word common name is a complete misnomer.

Last Clue: They are limited to the tropical rain forests of Southeast Asia.

Solution: It's a Colugo, also known as a cobego or flying lemur - which is a misnomer, because they are not lemurs, nor can they fly!

Solved!

Steller sea lion

Steller sea lion
Eumetopias jubatus

This is an endangered marine predator - no plants for these creatures. Adult males are massive, reaching 3.3m (10.8') long and 600-1,100kg (1300 to 2425lbs) in weight, while females top out at around 2.5m (8.2') in length and only 300kg (661lbs.)

Care to guess? (solved in the comments)

It's another mystery

This herbivorous mammal hails from the African continent, runs about 7-9 pounds (3-4 kg) and 19 -24 inches long (475-600mm), but fossil remains show its ancestor was once the size of an ox.

Additional clue: they are remotely related to the last mystery creature.

Another mystery - the answer's in the comments

Another mystery
This one seemed to take forever. It is by far, I think, the most complex skull I have done so far. That's right, it's a skull. It's from a non-extinct mammal, and the skull itself would be roughly 16" long. Any guesses?

Mystery Skull - the answer's in the comments

Mystery
Yes, this is a skull - see the teeth?
The creature it belongs to is mammalian, not extinct,
and the particular skull this was drawn from was just over 10" long.
Care to take a guess?
